The 2008-2009 Choctaw Tribal School staff will be
funded by the following components
  • TITLE I teachers, counselors, nurses, parent
    center and parent mobile staff,
    teacher assistants, three
  • pre-kindergarten teachers,
    extended day and school day tutors,
    and Title I administrative staff
  • TITLE II school improvement/staff development
    coordinator
  • TITLE VII school day tutors, extended day
    tutors, summer
  • school cultural staff,
    materials for cultural
  • activities, and summer
    school teacher assistants

The programs described below will be implemented
by the supplementary programs for the 2008-2009
school year
  • TITLE I Pre-Kindergarten programs for three
    schools, Sing, Spell, Read and Write
    for grades K-3, accelerated reading
    and mathematics programs
  • for all grades, I Care
    Program for parents, MCT 2
  • curriculum project, and
    parent center
  • TITLE II Professional Development Consultants
  • Educational Treasures,
    JBHM, and the Mississippi
    Writing/Thinking Institute
  • TITLE VII High school tutoring program in
    Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Biology I,
    English I and English II,
  • Elementary and middle school tutoring
    programs in language arts/reading and
    mathematics

The Title II professional development days for
the 2008-2009 school year will be
  • August 25, 2008
  • October 10, 2008
  • January 5, 2009
  • April 13, 2009

The focus of the 2008-2009 program improvement
and professional development program will include
  • TITLE II
  • Effective classroom instruction in all academic
    areas
  • Reading Writing across the curriculum
  • Depth of Knowledge and level of difficulty in
    student instruction and assessment
  • TITLE II D
  • Technology education for all staff in the
    district
  • The most up-to-date technology information for
    all students
  • Provides computers in classrooms on an as need
    basis

PARENT INVOLVEMENT PROGRAM
During the 2008-2009 school year, the parent
involvement program will involve parents,
guardians, and students in the following
activities
  • I Care parent involvement program
  • Muffins with Mom
  • Doughnuts with Dad
  • Conflict Resolution/Bullying
  • Fire Safety
  • Self Destructive Behavior Modification
  • Heal Nutrition Blast
  • Dream Prevention/Drugs
  • Family Financial Planning
  • MCT 2 Preparation
  • Etc.

This past school year, 137 parent involvement
opportunities were offered with 7,299 parents
guardians attending district-wide.

TRIBAL SCHOOL NURSES
During the 2008-2009 school year, the tribal
school nurses will
  • Make home visits as needed to talk with parents
    and to check on students who are ill
  • Present health education lessons to all
    classrooms
  • Provide routine health care at each school
  • Transport sick students to the hospital for
    medical attention when necessary
  • Conduct safety meetings for all staff
  • Check blood sugar levels on all students
  • Provide nutrition classes for all students as
    part of the Diabetes Awareness Program
  • Etc.

TRIBAL SCHOOL COUNSELORS
During the 2008-2009 school year, the tribal
school counselors will
  • Counsel students in groups or in individual
    settings
  • Interpret the MCT 2 test results for parents and
    guardians when requested
  • Evaluate, assess, and interpret test results with
    instructional staff for program improvement and
    academic achievement
  • Conduct personal counseling for parents in their
    childs school attendance, homework, and student
    citizenship
  • Conduct Learning for Life character building
    curriculum
  • Etc.

2007-2008 MCT2 Results
The MCT2 test results are currently not
available, therefore we are not able to share the
results of the test scores as we have done in the
past. Test results will be shared during the
October 2008 meeting.
