NSCC CITY PLAN 2009 - 2024

  • The City Plan sets out our citys strategic
    direction for the next 15 years.
  • The long-term plan indicates key priorities and
    costs associated with developing and running the
    kind of city you want. It will be based on the
    community outcomes that youve told the NSCC are
    important to you.
  • Under the Local Government Act 2002, all councils
    are required to produce a Long-Term Council
    Community Plan, which NSCC have called the City
    Plan. Previous plans are titled City Plan
    2004-2014 and City Plan 2006-2016.

  • You can request changes through the written
    submission process
  • City Plan Hearings Committee collate and consider
    information received
  • City Plan Hearings Committee meet in May
  • This is when people who have asked to be heard
    are able to speak in support of their submission

  • Knowledge is power get familiar with the City
    Plan
  • Support as well as ask
  • Be specific make reference to specific areas of
    the city plan
  • Make links try and link any changes you are
    submitting to as many strategies within the City
    plan as possible

  • IS THERE ANY ADVANTAGE MAKING A JOINT SUBMISSION
    WITHOTHER SPORTING ORGANISATIONS?
  • Absolutely. Last year 16 sports made four joint
    submissions which resulted in the community
    facility grant being increased by over 100,000.
    Feedback from Councillors and Council Officers is
    that sports working together on shared issues as
    well as making their own individual submissions
    is very powerful.

  • ORGANISATIONAL DEVELOPMENT TOOL (ODT)

  • PURPOSE
  • The ODT is a sport development process supported
    by a technology platform
  • It provides one common framework for development
    work in the sport recreation sector, with
    customised versions for NSOs, RSOs and clubs
  • It is designed to provide a comprehensive view of
    the capability and performance of an
    organisation. The process provides a clear
    direction for the organisations wanting to
    improve their performance

  • This is achieved through the identification of
    areas of good practice and opportunities for the
    development and improvement.
  • It provides organisations an opportunity to
    benchmark themselves against good practice across
    the full scope of their current and potential
    activities
  • The opportunity for future reassessment provides
    organisations with an excellent tool for
    monitoring and improving themselves over the long
    term
