  • To reflect radiant heat.
  • To provide cooler, breathable air to
    protect your lungs and airway.

  • all fireline personnel during fire suppression
    and prescribed fire operations.

Care Handling
  • Keep shelter away from sharp objects.
  • Do not load heavy objects on top of shelter.
  • Avoid rough handling.
  • Do not lean against objects when wearing shelter.

  • 5. Do not sit on shelter or use as a pillow.
  • Carry in polyethylene liner.
  • Carry where you can reach NEVER inside your
    pack.
  • Treat your fire shelter with respect.

  • Stay alert, keep calm, think clearly and act
    decisively. DONT PANIC!
  • Wear all PPE.
  • Protect your airway.
  • Escape if possible.
  • Note survivable deployment sites throughout the
    work day.

    assignment. If they are used properly, the LAST
    RESORT SURVIVAL techniques should not be needed.
