Background about the NASPA-NMA Student
Pharmacists Self Care Championship
  • NASPA and NMA partnered in 2006 to launch the
    Student Pharmacist Self Care Championship. The
    event, which is endowed by Procter Gamble,
    promotes interactive learning of self-care topics
    to the participants as well as the audience in
    attendance.
  • The program was created to improve education in
    self-care for both students and pharmacists,
    attract students to state association meetings
    and foster interaction between student
    pharmacists and pharmacists.

What is the NASPA-NMA Student Pharmacists Self
Care Championship?
  • CE program that is presented in Jeopardy-like
    game format.
  • Challenges student pharmacists to use their
    knowledge of OTC medications and compete against
    other student pharmacists in the state.
  • Fun and spirited way to provide CE to pharmacists
    and technicians.

  • 2008 - 21 states
  • 2009 - 26 states

  • The Jeopardy was a HUGE hit!!! The
  • students are working on enhancements
  • for next year to involve the audience a little
  • moreit really was excellent!

Interested in Starting in Your State?
  • Determine which meeting has the highest student
    attendance.
  • Work with the schools of pharmacy in your state
    to get them on board with the NASPA/NMA Student
    Pharmacist Self-care Championship.
  • The state pharmacy association or their CE
    partner will need at LEAST 30 days advance notice
    for ACPE accreditation.

  • Questions, Answers Explanations are provided
    annually
  • Supplies Needed
  • Small Dry-Erase Boards markers, one for each
    team (reimbursement by NASPA)
  • Laptop, projector
  • Microphones (if available)
  • Resources Needed
  • Minimum of two people to run the game show One
    can be Host/Judge/Scorekeeper, Second can be
    Announcer/Timer/IT. The more people, the better!
  • Minimum of Two teams up to 4 people per team
  • Once program has been completed please send
    results to NASPA
