  • How to graph a line including lining up the tick
    mark with the label
  • How to graph 2 lines 1 with a secondary axis
  • How to change the scale (alter the min and max
    shown on the Y-axis to suit)

How to graph a line
  • First, Open Microsoft Excel
  • Then, enter all the data into the spreadsheet
  • Next, highlight the data needed for the graph
  • Click the chart wizard button on the standard
    toolbar

Making the data into a line
  • Select line graph under Chart Type
  • Then, choose the best fitting chart sub-type
  • Click Next
  • Click Finish to place graph in the spreadsheet

Lining the tick marks with the labels
  • First, right click on the X axis
  • Choose Format Axis
  • Then, go to the Scale tab
  • Uncheck the Value (Y) axis crosses between
    categories box
  • Click OK
  • Tick marks are now lined up

2 Lines- 1 Secondary Axis
  • Put data into Excel spreadsheet
  • Highlight the information
  • Click on the Graph Wizard Icon
  • Choose the Line under chart types
  • Click Next
  • Add title on step 3
  • Click finish and graph should appear

Creating Secondary Axis
  • Right Click on line
  • Click on Format Data Series
  • Check the Secondary Axis box under axis tab
  • Click OK
  • Secondary axis now created

Changing Graph Scales
  • Using Created graph double click on Y-Axis
  • Go to scale tab
  • Under this you can change the max, min, as well
    as, major and minor unit to the desired scale
