One of the many family therapy concepts

• Family therapy tends to move towards treating the
  whole family and refrains from treating just the
  identified client.
• Generally family therapist believe that when one
  member of the family is experiencing difficulties
  the whole family is affected.

• In-home family therapy has been growing for many
  years.
• Family-based services who and what .
• IHFT provides therapy for children ages 3 and up.
  
• IHFT assists with helping families with mental
  illness. It discusses ways families can have
  positive interactions.
• What happens when the issues are not addressed.

• Therapist can meet many family members including
  friends.

• See family cultures.
• Learn how the family functions in their own
  environment.
• Families can invite any family member.
• How long therapy is depends on the needs of the

Goals of In-Home treatment include

• Teaching parents how to gain control of the home.
• Working on communication barriers.
• Assist with putting rules, consequences and
  effective discipline in the home.
• Work towards family cohesion or keeping families
  together.

In-home family therapy services

• Will work with juvenile delinquency, families
  with abuse and neglect, or drug and alcohol
  issues.
• Families that have other mental health or
  psychiatric hospitalizations.
• IHFT is generally brief, but can be very
  intensive.

Famly Therapist

• Will conduct a full assessment on the entire
  family.
• Will assist families in learning how families
  function. This will also include helping families
  look at how they identify themselves and their
  roles in the family.
• IHFT assist families on treating the whole family
  and not just the identified patient.
• Helps the family to build structure and stability
  in the home.
• Teaches the family how to look for triggers that
  could lead to conflicts or other mental health
  issues.
• Allows the family to take ownership for behaviors
  in the home and become stronger through family
  empowerment.

• IHFT often assign homework to clients to assist
  with keeping change going within the family unit
  or to help the family practice a technique that
  was given.
• How long an IHFT remains with the family will
  depend on the intensity of issues.
• Family and the family therapist set goals for the
  family. Whenever possible all family members
  should attend.
• Family therapist use what the family had been
  successful at and builds off the family strengths.

Things to remember when going into families homes

• Wear appropriate clothing.
• Turn your cell phones and pagers on silent
• Respect family culture.
• Upon first arriving notice your surroundings.
• Join with the family by using the environment to
  assist you.
• No heavy perfume/cologne
