6 7Why do it?
- Because you can?
- Because you want to?
- Because theres nothing else to do?
- Because its fun?
8What you wont get out of Teaching
- Its not the pay
- Its not the working hours
- Its not (and shouldnt be) an ego-trip
- Its not the perks
9What you will get out of teaching
- Achievement
- Making a difference
- Personal growth
10You work with people
- not projects
- not committees
- not policies
- not contracts
- but real people
11Your work has meaning
- Of course, all work has meaning
- What teaching offers is the opportunity to make a
difference - This is especially true if you end the lower
rungs of society - but it is true no matter what level of teaching
you undertake
12You learn as much about yourself as you teach
- Good teachers are constant learners
- Good teachers will discover things about
themselves, adapt, grow - Teaching is as much about self-discovery as
helping others discover themselves - The economy favours learners.
