• Their Protection The monarch
  butterfly eats milkweed. There are toxins in it
  that makes it poisonous. That way the monarch is
  poisonous to predators. Some butterflies try to
  look like the monarch for protection. A bird
  flying by would not be able to tell them apart. A
  mimic, the Viceroy, uses that to its advantage.
