Bivariate Data
  • The statistics we have considered so far have
    involved 1 variable. In each case quantities
    varied depending on a particular group.
  • Eg. Family Size Vs. year, Population Vs.
    Australian State
  • Bivariate data deals with two variable groups
    that are not necessarily related.
  • We can analyse Bivariate data to establish
    whether there is a relationship, i.e. whether
    there is a correlation between the data.
  • Eg. Footsize Vs. IQ, Engine Capacity Vs Fuel
    Consumption, Smoking Vs. Incidents of Cancer,
  • We do this using a scatter graph.
