2007/2008 Season
2Scorekeeper Responsibilities
- Report no less than (NLT) 20 minutes before match
time - Receive team rosters 10 minutes before start of
match - Receive line-ups 2 minutes before end of warm ups
and NLT 1 min before subsequent games - Complete the heading section of the score sheet
- Record the score of the match
- Record time outs
- Record substitutions
- Record comments
- Record the final score for each game
- Designate the serving order when requested
- Notify Umpire of discrepancies in the score
- Notify the Umpire when the 15th, 16th, 17th, and
18th substitutes are used by a team also notify
Umpire of 19th substitute, if necessary - Notify Umpire of improper servers
- Notify Umpire of illegal substitutions
- Notify the Umpire when game point is reached
3Scorekeeping
- The scorekeeper works for the Umpire is present
20 minutes before match start time - The timer and scorekeeper work in tandem
- Scorekeeper must write small enough to record all
activities - Scorekeeper records
- The starting line-up for each team in proper
serving order - All information in the heading of the score sheet
- Every play or action
- Result of a serve
- Point (in players scoring section corresponding
to correct server) - Loss of Rally (-)
- Slash or put a rectangle around team running
score - Substitution (S or Sx entering/leaving) slash
total team substitute number - Time out (T or Tx score of team taking time
out/score of opponent) - Penalty (P or Px)
- Replay (R)
- Re-serve (RS)

5Libero Tracker Responsibilities
- Notify the Umpire when a libero is/is not
designated for a game by the teams prior to game
start time - Communicate with the scorekeeper on libero
replacements - Record all substitutions and libero replacements
on the libero tracking sheet - Tell the Umpire if the libero is replaced by an
incorrect player or an undesignated libero enters
the game - Notify the Umpire if the libero does not stay out
of the game for one rally between replacements - Sit next to the scorekeeper
6SETTING UP THE SHEET
Pre-Match
- This is a varsity match between Home Team Handley
High School and Visitors James Wood High School
at Handley Gymnasium. - The date is October 22, 2006, and this is game 1
scheduled for 530 p.m. The Referee is Christina
Cox and the Umpire is Kyle Schmid. You are the
scorekeeper for the match.
7- Visitors James Wood High School (JWHS) has won
the coin toss and elects to serve first. - Home Team Handley High School (HHS) has already
chosen their playing area which is the court to
the right of the scorekeeper.
8Make sure all Headings areas are complete and is
done before the first game. This will save time.
9THE LINE-UPS
- Team line-ups are submitted.
- Check for
- A Floor Captain
- A Libero
- Non-duplicate numbers
- First server (verifying who got first serve)

Use Black or Blue Ink to enter Line-up. Enter
number to the far left of the box to allow for
substitutions.
It does not matter if the team is Serving or

not noticed and requested from the coach a new
captain, notify the Umpire that JWHS needs to
identify a new captain. The Libero is now the
Captain

three straight points (11, 12, 13). Next serve
is a loss of rally.

- Yellow Card Y12(7-6) means a yellow card was
given to 12 when the score was 7-6 (offending
teams score listed first). - Red Card R3(7-0) means a Red Card Penalty was
given to 3 when the players team led 7-0. - Red/Yellow Cards DQ10(4-14) means 10 was
ejected when the players team trailed 4-14. - Illegal Equipment/Uniform write UD-TO or UD-P,
__ (4-6) reason (UD means Unnecessary Delay) - Unconscious Player write unconscious player
__ when an unconscious player or apparently
unconscious player has been removed from the
game. - Exceptional Substitution write ExSub __ / __.
Suggest adding the violating teams name or
initials as well. Example HHS Y12(7-6) HHS
signifies that Handley High Schools 12 received
