  • Project Description
  • The PCCMS (Planning Committee for Course
Management System) is an ad-hoc committee
    targeted to accomplish the following
  • Recommend on a campus wide course management
system (WebCT Vista 4.0 or Sakai) to replace
WebCT (CE) by end of 2007
  • Develop a migration plan
  • Identify the resources required, both for the
    transition phase and on-going operations
  • Recommend on a governance structure for GTs
CMS/LMS future as part of our strategic mission
  • Project Started July 21 2006

20
  • PCCMS
  • Milestone Recommendation of pilots for Fall
    2006
  • Description
  • In order for us to make a well-informed
recommendation, it is very important that GT
develop some experience with both Vista and
Sakai. Specifically, we need both platforms to be
supported for experimental use with several
actual courses on campus this fall.  (Support
does NOT mean integration with other systems such
as Banner  it does mean installation in a usable
and secure manner for a limited number of
interested professors to use.)  Melissa Bachman
is in contact with professors who want to use
these tools.  Knowledge gained from this will be
invaluable to us. -- Jim Foley (July 27, 2006)

Identity Management
24
  • Project Name IAM -- GTED
  • Exec Sponsor Ron Hutchins, CTO
  • Project Manager Huapei Chen
  • OIT OPR OIT/AI
  • Project Description
  • The Georgia Tech Enterprise Directory (GTED) is
a meta-directory service to store information
about Georgia Tech's computer accounts and the
people who use them. GTED is to be used as the
    data foundation of departmental identity
    management systems and application developers.
This project is the first phase of the
over-arching IAM (Identity and Access Management)
initiative for Tech. The two deliverables for
    this project includes
  • define the most IT-pertinent data about
    individuals and develop/deploy an infrastructure
to assemble, store and maintain that data
  • Extension of this infrastructure to include
    automation of Continuum door controls.
  • Project Started Oct. 1 , 2005

  • Replace PFDUMP with 160TB capacity
  • Consolidate hardware platforms
  • Decrease total cost of ownership
  • Reduce backup/restore duration by utilizing
disk-to-disk (aka nearline) backups and a modern
