  • Butadiene (I) is manufd. by oxidative
    dehydrogenation of butane-butylene fractions in
    an adiabatic reactor at an elevated temp. in the
    presence of steam and a catalyst contg. Ni, V,
    and Sb oxides on an ? -Al2O3 support. The yield
    of I and dehydrogenation selectivity are
    increased by using a catalyst using 0.1-0.3 wt.
    MgO and 0.3-0.5 wt. ZnO, in add. to NiO 9-11,
    V2O5 2.5-4, Sb2O3 5-9, and ?-Al2O3 up to 100 wt.
    , and conducting the oxidative dehydrogenation
    at 570-590.

  • Butadiene 106-99-0 is prepd. by dehydrogenation
    of butane 106-97-8 or its mixed with butenes
    at 550-650 in the presence of O, an inert
    diligent, and a catalyst comprising Sb oxide
    5.0-20.0, V oxide 2.0-10.0, Ni oxide 4.0-20.0, Th
    oxide 0.1-1.0, Ti oxide 0.1-1.0 wt., and the
    balance carrier, preferably Al2O3. Thus, a
    mixture of hydrocarbon feed (8515
    butane-butenes), O, and steam in molar ratio
    11.440 was passed at space velocity of the
    hydrocarbon feed of 100 h-1 through a reactor
    with a stationary bed of catalyst in 3 sections
    at 600, 620, and 615. The catalyst comprised Sb
    oxide 15.0, V oxide 7.0, Ni oxide 4.0, Th oxide
    0.5, and Ti oxide 0.1 wt. supported on Al2O3.
    The butane conversion was 28.4, the selectivity
    for butadiene was 60, and the butadiene yield
    was 14.2 L/L catalyst per h.
