• Their favorite food is krill, fish and squid
• They live in colonies in the open and sometimes
  with other types of penguins
• Rockhoppers are smaller in size and have yellow
  plumes on their head
• They live in South America, the Falkland Islands,
  New Zealand and Sub-antarctic Islands.
• Penguins like to live in the cold
• For them to stay warm in the cold they are
  covered with a thick layer of blubber
• Their feathers help to keep them warm and dry

• Likes to live in colonies in the open and uses
  stones to line its nest
• A medium-sized penguin recognized by its white
  eye-ring. Feathers on the back of the head are
  slightly elongated and can be raised to form a
  small crest
• Lives the farthest South on Antarctica in areas
  of South Shetland, South Orkney, South Sandwich,
  and Bouvetøya Islands.
• Penguins like to live in the cold

• Chinstrap Penguins are medium-sized penguins,
  easily recognized by their white face and black
  line across the cheeks. The bill is black in
  contrast to most other penguins
• They live on the Antarctic Peninsula on South
  Georgia, South Orkney, South Shetland, and South
  Sandwich Islands
• Penguins like to live in the cold
• For them to stay warm in the cold they are

  crevice in lava
• They are one of the smallest of the penguins.
  Distinguished by their relatively large bill and
  narrow white line around the face
• Lives on the Galapagos Islands
• They live on the Antarctic Peninsula on South
  Georgia, South Orkney, South Shetland, and South
  Sandwich Islands

Little Blue Penguin

• Favorite food is small fish like sardines and
  anchovies
• Likes to live in a Burrow, in a cave or under
  bushes. They like to live alone or in small
  groups
• This is the worlds smallest penguin
• Upper parts are pale blue to a dark grey-blue
  depending upon age, season and subspecies.
• They are nocturnal (Sleep during the day and
  awake at night)
• They live in Australia and in New Zealand

• Using the fill-in worksheets, list two
  commonalities AND two differences between the
  Penguins
• This can be typed or hand written
• Turn in tomorrow at the beginning of class
