COE RESEARCHERS BEGIN ADOLESCENT LITERACY
INITIATIVE
  • 100,000 grant from the Carnegie Corporation to
    form the FSU Adolescent Literacy Initiative, a
    program designed to increase the number of
    adolescents who become proficient readers.
  • Project PI Professor Pamela "Sissi" Carroll
  • Co-PI Professor Barbara Foorman and Assistant
    Professor Sharilyn Steadman
  • The 100,000 grant from the Carnegie Corporation
    of New York will be accompanied by 25,000 from
    the College of Education to support course
    development and project research.
  • College of Education researchers will partner
    with faculty from specific subject areas in the
    FSU College of Arts and Sciences to design the
    coursework used in the study, which began July 1
    and is scheduled to continue until Dec. 31, 2008.

2007-2008 Dissertation Research Grants
  • 750 awards to assist doctoral students with
    expenses associated with research necessary to
    prepare the dissertation.

Dr. David Eccles
  • The National Association of Securities Dealers
    Investor Education Foundation has funded a
    24-month, 341,511, project at LSI's Center for
    Expert Performance Research at LSI.
  • Dr. David Eccles (EPLS and LSI)  is the principal
    investigator and will work with FSU faculty
    members Paul Ward (LSI and Psychology) and
    Elizabeth Goldsmith (Textiles and Consumer
    Sciences).
  • Anders Ericsson (Psychology) will serve as a
    consultant, and Bob Reiser (EPLS) as an
    evaluator, to the project, which will explore
    best practices in long-term investing for
    households.

    Early Childhood Years Helping Young Children
    Communicate, published in Young Children, 6(4),
