Acer Saccharum Sugar Maple

• One of our most majestic deciduous trees. It is
  excellent for large shade or lawn locations. The
  Sugar Maple has a dense crown with glossy dark
  green, heavily waxed leaves. It is one of our
  best trees for fall color when leaves turn
  brilliant red or yellow-orange. It is very shade
  tolerant and can grow easily under canopy created
  by older trees.

• The Sugar Maple is drought tolerant, long-lived,
  and grows best in deep, fertile, well-drained
  soils. The sap of the Sugar Maple is often
  collected in the spring to make many flavorful
  confections. Does not do well in restricted root
  zone. It has majestic, brilliant fall color and
  dense shade.

• The tree will grow to 130high and will live the
  longest of all related maple species.

• This tree boasts a straight trunk, erect
  branches, smooth gray bark and a spreading oval
  crown, a good candidate for street tree
  plantings.
• Leaves are simple, opposite and have five
  toothed, pointed lobes. They are dark green on
  the top and pubescent on the undersides,
  including the veins.
• The double samaras are set in a V and grow in
  clusters on short green stalks.
