Title: Mitosis

1
Mitosis
  • Nucleus chromosomes split in half during the
    process of mitosis.
  • Prophase
  • Metaphase
  • Anaphase
  • Telophase

What are chromosomes?
  • When there are 2 sets of DNA in the nucleus, the
chromatin will begin to condense into
    chromosomes.
  • The chromatid is half of the chromosome(X)

4
Prophase
  • Chromatin condenses (shrivel/bunch up) to form
    chromosomes
  • Spindle fibers appear

5
Metaphase
  • Chromosomes line up in the middle
  • Spindle fibers are very evident

6
Anaphase
  • Spindle fibers pull apart the chromosomes so that
half (chromatid) goes to each side.

7
Telophase
  • Cell membrane begins to form between the 2 nuclei
  • The chromosomes begin to loosen up into
    chromatin.

8
Result of Mitosis
  • When mitosis is complete, you end up with 1 cell
    but it has 2 nuclei.
