5Special Exam Considerations
Special room known as the quiet room for
students needing extra time due to dyslexia or
some other disability. Usually allowed extra 15
mins per hour but each case is different. The
information concerning each students needs will
be in the box along with the exam papers etc.

8Attendance
- An invigilation session includes a preparation
and packing up period - Report to Assessment Office at least 30 mins
before the start of your examination session - Collect all papers and return to Assessment
Office at end of session

- Report to the Assessment office
- Sign in and check room to which you have been
assigned to for that session - Collect the relevant exam box (if not already
collected by another invigilator) - check contents (L2.1c)
- Set up exam room (L2.1 de)

- Check that the students have their Identity Cards
If a student does not have a valid I/D card and
there is time before the exam starts, please send
the student back to the Assessment Office so that
the student can obtain an exam pass. If,
however, the exam is about to start or has
started, allow the student to continue with the
exam. At the end of the exam keep their exam
paper separate and escort the student back to the
Assessment Office where their identity can be
confirmed

- These will be available to read out in the
examination room - Exam Room Rules are set down in the Guide
Regulations - Bags Outdoor Coats must be left at sides of
room - Unauthorised books, notes or programmable
calculators must not be used - Student Cards must be placed on the desk. Do not
write your name anywhere on your scripts except
for the front cover.

- Smoking is not allowed in the examination room
- Food and drink is not allowed in the examination
room with the exception of water and quiet sweets - Mobile phones must be switched off
- Exam papers all candidates must check that they
have the correct paper in front of them - Module Codes and Module Names must be announced
several times prior to the start of the exam
the invigilation report form is signed by
invigilators to indicate that this is done. - Attendance slips must be completed and will be
collected in once the exam has started

- No candidate may leave in the first 30 minutes
- No candidate may leave in the last 10 minutes
- No candidate may leave at all without the
permission of an invigilator - Candidates must raise their hand if they require
the attention of the Invigilator
14Fire Alarm Regulations
- If the fire alarm goes during examination the
room must be evacuated immediately. - All papers should be left in room.
- All invigilators should be aware of escape
routes. - If the exam can be restarted within 30 minutes
time should be allowed for the delay and settling
down. If not able to re-start within 30 minutes
it may have to be abandoned. - Where possible students to be kept under
examination conditions

- announce that the exam will start now (e.g.
10.02) and that it will finish at (e.g. 12.02) - TO FINISH
- announce when there are 10 minutes left

these must be fastened together. All candidates
to remain seated until all the examination papers

- Ensure Examination Regulations are adhered to

- Notifying Assessment Manager of any Problems
encountered - In the event of a fire address candidates and
evacuate immediately to fire assembly area

- Check attendance slips front of exam scripts
have been completed. Check I/D card - Complete the Invigilator Report Form
- Do not allow any student to leave exam room in
first 30 mins or last 10 mins

- Normally do not allow late students to enter
examination room once it has been underway for
30 mins or more some discretion (or refer them
to Student Office) - Student must have a valid reason for leaving the
exam room and to be able to return and should
always be escorted - There should always be 2 invigilators present in
the exam room

enclosed in the Invigilators Pack in each exam box
21Academic Misconduct, para L3
- Be vigilant at all times
- Invigilators positioned at front back of room
- Patrol the room every now and then but avoid
disturbance - Must be reported to the Assessment Office
22Exam clashes
- Occasionally students have an examination
- clash this may mean that the student will
- have to have a supervised lunch. Escort the
- student back to the Student Office ensuring
- that they do not communicate with anyone.

- Collect all materials and return to the student
office - - attendance slips in alpha order separated
by exam the total amount should be written on the
front - - scripts should be covered with
a continuation sheet with the Module Code and
number of scripts written on the front - - spare exam stationery
- Students MUST remain seated until all scripts
have been accounted for

- In order to keep track of all scripts, they must
be returned and logged in the Assessment Office,
even though the invigilator may be the marker. - Tutors to collect and sign for scripts inthe
usual way from the Assessment Office.
