Task Scenario
  • Cheryl Seals, parched and hungry from a hard day
of intense instruction, visits the Domino's _at_ AU
website in search of the perfect pizza. Upon
reaching the home/login page, she enters her
Auburn ID and password and presses the Login
    button.
  • This leads her into a set of pages that allow her
to place an order. Each of these pages follows a
similar layout. The top of every page displays
the site header. The far left column displays a
navigational menu for user options. The
top-middle portion of the page displays
information about the current order and the order
process. Finally, the center of the page displays
    context-sensitive information regarding order
    process.

Task Scenario (Step 1)
  • The first step in the order process (though steps
may be done in any order) is to select her pizza.
This is done by either clicking a specialty pizza
or selecting the pizza toppings individually. As
she clicks each topping, the page provides a
visual representation of her choices. Each
topping button acts a toggle switch between the
following options for the topping -- full pizza,
right half, left half, and none. After choosing
the toppings, she must also choose the pizza size
and crust type (as selected through radio button
groups). As she makes changes to the pizza, the
"Price" label changes to reflect the cost of the
current pizza. Once she finishes with her
selection, she clicks the "Add Pizza to Order"
button. The visual representation is displayed as
a pizza being placed in a box and being pushed
toward the "current order" section of the page.
Then, the current order is updated to reflect the
    new pizza order.

Task Scenario (Steps 2 and 3)
  • The second step in the order process is to select
her sides. This page should be very similar to
the Select Pizza page, and therefore we have not
    included it in our prototype.
  • The third step in the order process is to enter
the delivery information. Once she clicks on this
step, she sees a set of text boxes for her name,
address, and phone number. She also may click the
"Auto-Fill from Profile" checkbox, which will
automatically complete the form based on the
information in her user profile. Once the
information has been entered, she clicks the
"Apply Delivery Info" button, which initiates a
store-lookup from the Domino's database in order
to locate the Domino's within her delivery range.
If multiple stores are found, she is presented
with a drop-down box of all available stores
(along with the number of miles from the delivery
location). She then selects one of the stores and
presses the "Apply Delivery Info" button again.
This modifies the current order's delivery
    information appropriately.

Task Scenario (Step 4)
  • The fourth step in the order process is to enter
the payment information. Once she clicks on this
step, she sees a set of radio buttons
    representing the different payment options
available to her. If she selects "Tiger Card",
then a text box appears for the card number. If
she selects a credit card, then a text box
appears for the card number along with two
drop-down boxes for the month and year of
expiration date. After selecting the payment
type, she clicks the "Apply Payment Info", which
modifies the payment information for the current
order. This, however, does not automatically
charge her credit card or place the order. That
is not done until Step 5.

Task Scenario (Step 5)
  • The fifth step in the order process is to place
the order. She clicks the "Place Order" button,
which sends the specified order to the specified
Domino's location. At this point, her credit card
or tiger card is charged for the order. She is
presented with an order summary page and an
    approximate delivery time.
