PHILOSOPHY
We dont accept out-of-state players. Why should
you have to compete for a scholarship to a
four-year school against kids from all over the
country?
News
Placement
Signings
A self-imposed roster limit allows the coaching
staff to know each player it also gives each
player an opportunity to play. If our staff
recruits you, they have a plan for you!
Philosophy
We want to make Phoenix College, Arizonas
College where Arizona football players come to
compete against other Arizona kids for
scholarships to a four-year school.
Academics
Program
WHY? Our Program and priorities are geared
toward getting our kids placed, not winning
national championships at the Junior College
level, said Coach Wolfley.
Traditions
PC doesnt red shirt, gray shirt or hide players
in any way. We try to get our players out the
door, not keep them in, said Ron Wolfley.

ACADEMICS
News
Not only does Phoenix College have a
stellar reputation academically, but it also
boasts one of the best programs in the country in
support of its student-athletes. The Student
Athlete Scholastic Success program, or SASS, is
designed to help PCs athletes succeed in the
classroom. PCs players have a SASS advisor
assigned to them Al Battle handles the defense
and Greg Simpson the offense. What makes the
program special, found only at PC, is that it
duplicates what PC players will find when
attending a four-year school and the resources
they will have while playing football for that
school. I was shocked and pleasantly surprised
when I came to Phoenix College and saw they
had an academic program like SASS, said Ron
Wolfley, Head Football Coach at PC. This
is very similar to ho how its done at the D-1
level.

The Phoenix College Full Medal Helmet
Placement
We believe the highest honor you can receive
as a player is to be named a "Football Player."
Our definition of a Football player is a young
man who represents this program in a positive way
on campus and off a young man that knows he's a
student, goes to class and works to get good
grades. Finally, a young man that understands the
difficulties inherent to playing the game of
football but plays the game the way it should be
played like the dogs are chasing him! When we
have a player that meets our criteria he is
named, in front of his peers, a Football player.
When this happens that player's name is recorded,
plaques will be made and hung on the Barracks
wall and he receives a special honor as well
he's given the Phoenix College Full Medal
Helmet. Our helmets are old school
through-and-through. The gold stripe splits the
navy blue field in two, symbolic of your
responsibility as a STUDENT and a FOOTBALL
PLAYER. We wear numbers on the right side of our
helmets, identifying you as a member of our team,
the football side of being on our team. When a
player is named and given the honor of Full Medal
Helmet, that player receives a number on both
sides of his helmet - left and right. The Full
Medal Helmet. The criteria for receiving this
honor, as shown above, is as follows 1) A player
that represents this program in a positive way on
campus and off. 2) A player that knows he's a
student and attends class and works hard in
school. 3) A player that plays the game the way
it's supposed to be played with all that he has,
regardless of his talent level. Do you have
what it takes to receive the Phoenix College Full
Medal Helmet?

WINTER CONDITIONING
News
PC uses Ohio States winter conditioning program.
D-1 has nothing to do with budget, stadium size
or televised games and everything to do with how
you go about your business. PC players get the
best and latest techniques, techniques OSU uses.

Al Johnson is the strength and conditioning coach
at OSU. He was the strength and conditioning
coach at West Virginia University when both
Wolfleys, Ron and Dale, were in the football
program. Hes a personal friend of the family,
said Dale Wolfley. When we call him for the
latest techniques, were going to get a call back
and thats why we use OSUs program.

SUMMER CONDITIONING
News
PC football, in the summer, turns its focus more
toward conditioning and speed than gaining mass
and explosion. Although weight training
continues in the summer, PCs goal is to prepare
its players for the upcoming season and the
beginning of training camp.

Willie Jones works with PCs football team in the
summer, helping them with their speed. He is a
former world class sprinter. While at ASU he
competed on several of the fastest relays in
collegiate history and in the world. He has also
competed on several National teams. Willie ran
track professionally for several years with Stars
and Stripes Track Club and Philadelphia Pioneers.

40-times are critical to four-year schools and
their interest in a player. The quickest way to
improve a players 40-time is by teaching them
how to start. This is where Coach Jones is most
effective, using experience and knowledge to
help PC players.

SPRING BALL
News
PC does spring ball like D-1 does it they put
the pads on. One of the stated goals of the
program is to prepare each player for the
four-year school experience. We have tried to
pattern our program as closely as possible
after our own D-1 experience, said Head Coach
Ron Wolfley. Four-year schools do it this way,
why shouldnt we?

Unless youre wearing pads, youre really not
playing football, said Assistant Head Coach Dale

DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY
News
PC uses all digital cameras when filming. Two
cameras are used, one for an end zone shot and
one for a wide angle sideline shot, for both
practices and games. The images are so clear,
said Wolfley, it really helps us teach our
players and allows them to get a better
understanding of what were after.
Placement

Philosophy
The Landro Play Analyzer allows PCs staff to
digitize any film, breakdown film and analyze
that film instantly. Player specific tapes are
made for each player, increasing their chances of
being noticed by four-year schools. We believe
the Landro, because of its clarity and lightning
recall, has helped us place kids when four-year
schools come walking in, said Dale Wolfley.
Academics
Program
Traditions
PC has the ability to get end zone film
wherever they play. With the Eaglecam, a
telescoping mast, end zone shots are simple.
End zone film is one of the most valuable
teaching tools a program can have, said Ron
Wolfley. Four-year schools love it and our
players can get it whenever needed.
