2 Golf Shop News By Jordy Vetter, PGA Head
Professional Well, we are in the midst of having
some great weather and are already into the full
swing of our golf calendar. Hopefully, all of you
received my letter on the Palmer Partner
Championships to be held November 10 through13,
in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Go get your teams
ready, the first qualifier will be April
26th. Now that it is April, please remember we
are back to mandatory carts (no walking) until
1200 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. This will be
in effect until November. Not only is golfing
season here, but we have a full tournament
schedule kicking off this month. The spring
member member will be this month and the Match
Play championships next month. I have noticed
over a period of time that we normally have about
80 to 120 people playing in these tournaments,
and its generally the same people. We have over
400 members here at GSW. My question is Where
are the other 300 people? Do you enjoy playing in
tournaments and meeting other people? Let us help
you get set up. I have to keep it short this
month, so I will see you out at the course.
April 2nd, 2008! Mark your calendars!9 Hole
Scramble, 20 cash includes cart fee, powerball
pot, weekly payout and two team prizes!Happy
Hour prices good all night!

Turf News Overview By Richard Webster, Course
Superintendent The clock jumped ahead early this
year, but we are still some time away from good
seasonal temperatures. We are starting to do some
of our mowing, but it is limited to fescue areas
and taller rough. Our tree trimming has gone well
this year, we nearly made it all the way around,
but we do still lack some. March has also brought
us quite a bit of rain. We have had over 8
inches including the snow we received. Spring
green up is just around the corner so we will
soon be back into our regular mowing schedule.
The blue spots that you see throughout the course
are applications of pre and post emergent for
weed control. As the temperatures continue to
get warmer we will start to verticut fairways, as
well as, tees and approaches. The beginning of
May will also be our target date to do the
fairway aerification.
