2
Civil Rights Childrens Book Lesson Created by
Krista MessnerLanguage Arts Teacher, RJHS
  • The challenge of this lesson is to take a
difficult issue relative to the Civil Rights
Movement and transpire it into a childrens book.
Explaining some of our historys challenging
times to a young audience can be difficult.
Choosing the right vocabulary and making a
complex issue seem simple to understand is the
task and assignment. The picture book may be
    written as fiction or non-fiction.
  • This project was used by another Language Arts
    Teacher as a Holocaust activity.
  • This school year the books are being read to
    elementary students.
