NDP for Young PeopleAim To raise the
basic skills levels of young people aged 14-19,
focusing upon those with low levels of literacy
and numeracy

• Encourage development of programmes which
  motivate and engage young people back into
  learning
• Support providers to deliver programmes which
  improve basic skills and lead to attainment
• Work with providers to help them reach the
  standards required by Quality Mark
• Incorporates the PLUS strategy

Aim of the PLUS strategy
To raise significantly the literacy and numeracy
levels of children and young people in order to
prevent crime and re-offending

  NDP

• Fifteen programmes arts- or environment-based

• Provide opportunities for active learning,

Outcomes

• 7 achieved Arts Award (bronze)
• 6 stated that working towards this qualification
  had helped to keep them motivated
• All 7 felt the SAC had made them more interested
  in arts activities
• 5 had improved their Literacy and Numeracy skills
  over the 6 weeks

NDP for Young People

• Success in one area, and the enthusiasm it
  engenders, can transfer across to other areas of
  learning. The impact on self-esteem has been
  remarkable. Its been fascinating to witness the
  young peoples engagement in practical tasks and
  to see them recognise they CAN learn and are GOOD
