What is the Internet and HTML?
The Internet is a worldwide network of Personal
Computers connected through an Internet Service
Provider (ISP) like AOL, MSN, NetZero and many
more.
HTML is a markup language used to create
websites. HTML stands for Hyper-Text Markup
Language. There are other web languages but HTML
is already powerful and still easy to learn.

Planning Your Web Site.

• Before you start set your goals and try to think
  
• about what you are doing
• What does your website need to do?
• Who is your website going to be for (person
  organization)?
• What kind of information do you want on it?
• Then plan more (boring but it will save you time
  later)
• Look on the Internet for other similar
  websites.How are they done, what kind of
  graphics are they using
• Use a piece of paper to draw a little image of
  what thesite is going to look like.
• Draw a map of the website (that is how different
  pages arelinked to each other).

Brainstorming!
Other good questions to ask yourself while
planning your site.

• Why are you creating a website?
• Why will people visit your site?
• What exactly do you want your site look like?
• Use the Internet its a powerful research tool.
  Look for images, ideas, ask people for help and
  teach yourself new stuff.
• Are you having fun?

Semester Outline.

• Tuesdays you will meet with people at your school
  to talk about content to put on the site. You
  will also take pictures or look up for resources
  online.
• First few weeks, youll need to do a lot of
  research and ask people to write content for you
  and collect brochures and pamphlets.
• Thursdays we will meet up at Hunter to work on
  the pages.
• First few weeks well look at how some programs
  can help you designing your website.
• End of the semester, the site is going to be
  ready for primetime (youll be able to tell all
  your friends to check it out).
