Background and situation

• ICT office, National Agrarian Library and
  Language Centre are separate offices, structured
  under Academic vice rectorate.
• No permanent coordination within them.
• The ICT installed capacity has received priority,
  although quality and speed varies.
• Library is concentrated of undergraduate level
  studies. Poor access to research publications.
• English knowledge is limited within staff and
  students. Language centre was improved through
  IUC-Vlir project.

Overall objective

• Increase and improve the use of information
  technologies, libraries and language centre
  within research and educational programs.

Specific objectives

• Establish a permanent interdisciplinary
  management structure at the highest level of
  UNALM responsible for policy development,
  planning and monitoring of overall ICT issues.
• Improvement of ICT, library and language centre
  capacities through investments in equipment and
  software and international technical support.

Specific objectives

• Ensure a network that fully supports a first
  class university through new technologies.
• Train key researchers in ICT. Library and
  language centre management and networking.

Goals in ICT and Library

• Improve ICT service capacity through equipment
  and training.
• Generating a culture of ICT use at UNALM.
• Research nourishes on literature, so increasing
  access to publications will provide support to
  research projects.

Goals in Language Centre

• No ICT and library use are possible without
  increasing the management of English language in
  students and staff.
• Improving capacity of language centre will
  support learning processes.
