2Audio-Visual materials have been increasing the
popularity of the public libraries. The past few
years has seen a greater demand by patrons for
the usage of audio books, compact discs and
videos.
3- Cahners Business Research conducted a survey of
486 public libraries and found the following
information about AV materials. - Libraries AV budgets have grown 53 in the past
5 years while the overall budgets have grown 36
for the same period. - Sources for choosing AV materials come from
catalogs, magazines, and patrons suggestions. - Audio books total 1/4 non-fiction 3/4 fiction.
- Circulation policies vary - audio books/2 weeks,
music CDs/2 weeks, videos/1 to 2 days or 1 week
depending on popularity.
