Purpose
  • An award based program for students 5th-9th
    grades
  • An award program created to reinforce the
    importance and enjoyment of reading
  • To reinforce the importance and the need of
    reading and writing skills in order to do well
    in all school subjects

Rules
  • Families/participants must read at least ten
    books
  • Winner from each neighborhood will be called a
    champion
  • Each participating neighborhood will determine
    their neighborhood champion

  • Neighborhood Champion
  • Community Champion
  • City Champion
  • Regional Champion
  • State Champion

Neighborhood Champion
  • Each participating neighborhood leader will
    administer the reading program to determine the
    neighborhood champion

Community Champion
  • To determine the Community Champion, judging will
    be administered by W.A.G. leadership team
  • The Superintendent and Mayor are the life lines
  • Favorite teacher can participate at this level

City Champion
  • To determine the City Champion, judging will be
    administered by the by W.A.G. leadership team
  • The Superintendent and Mayor are the life lines
  • Favorite local radio personality can participate
    at this level

Regional Champion
  • To determine the Regional Champion, judging will
    be administered by W.A.G. leadership team
  • The Superintendent and the Mayor are the life
    lines
  • Favorite teacher can participate at this level

State Champion
  • Televised event hosted by the Governor or State
    Representative
  • The Mayor of their respective city will be their
    life line and their favorite teacher can also
    participate at this level
  • Students must read ten books, write essays as
    requested and be able to answer questions based
    upon books they have read

Prizes/Awards
  • Winning family receives keys to a house
  • Student receives a trophy and scholarship
  • Winning Community receives plaque/trophy
  • Winning City receives plaque/trophy
