The Heart!

• Your heart is a hollow organ centred in the
  middle of your chest.
• You heart is behind your breastbone under the rib
  cage between your lungs.
• Although your heart is hollow its not empty. In
  an average adult about 4.7 litres of blood flow
  through the heart each minute.
• Your heart walls are made mostly of strong
  muscle, called the myocardium. It continuously
  pumps your blood through 60,000 miles of blood
  vessels for a lifetime. Without a rest!

Where are you Heart Valves?

• Your heart has four valves. Blood flows through
  each valve one time on its way through your
  heart. The four valves connects Atrium and
  Ventricle together to stop the blood flowing the
  wrong way.

• When the blood has been round the body the large
  vein brings it to the heart
• It then passes through the right side of the
  heart
• The pulmonary artery takes the blood to the lungs
• The blood goes around the lungs and collects
  oxygen
• Then the pulmonary vein takes the oxygen back
  through the left side of the heart
• The heart then pumps the blood through the aorta
  to the rest of the body.

Blood Vessels!

• There are three different types of Blood
• Vessels
• Arteries take blood away from the heart theyve
  got thick walls because the bloods got high
  pressure because it would rupture
• Capillaries they are found in the surface of the
  skin they are only one cell thick because
  substances need to defuse across them.
• Veins carry blood into the heart they dont need
  thick walls because they havent got high
  pressure.
