• The old word for Mexico was Metztlixcictlico
• Metxtli means Moon
• Xictli means center
• Co means place
• Metzlixcictlico means place in the centre of the
  moon.

Fruit has played a very important role in
Mexicos culture and nutrition. Fruit can be seen
in the paintings of famous artists, in the
markets and in many homes, where it is used as a
table decoration. Even through this fruit is
sometimes not natural, it still has pleasant
colors and shapes. Fruit also appears in songs
and games.

Food in Mexico

• Mexican food is a rich mixture of native Indian
  and Spanish cuisines.
• Can you think of any foods that you might eat
  that are from the Mexican culture?
• Tortillas, tacos, enchiladas and quesadillas
  might pop into your mind.
• Tortillas are one of the basis of native Mexican
  cooking. Tortillas are small, flat, circular
  type pancakes which are made of corn or wheat
  flour. They are the most typical of all Mexican
  food.
• Tacos are rolled tortillas stuffed with either
  beef, pork, or chicken.
• Enchiladas are slightly fried tacos, served with
  red or green hot sauce or enchilada sauce.
• Tostadas are crispy fried tortillas spread with
  beans, chicken or beef and garnished with cheese,
  lettuce, sour cream and salsa.
• Quesadillas are tortillas filled with almost
  anything cheese, beef, chicken.

Music and Dance in Mexico

• In the time of the ancient civilizations of
  Mexico, the playing of music was important during
  festivals, ceremonies, and many types of
  religious events.
• There were songs asking for good luck, rain
  songs, and songs asking for plentiful of harvest
  or good fishing.
• Songs were also a good way to pass on knowledge
  from one generation to the next or to tell
  stories from history.
• The mariachi is Mexican popular music. Have you
  ever heard a mariachi band at a Mexican
  Restaurant?
• The Corrido is a type of song which tells a
  story, sometimes the stories are about a person
  or something which once happened.

• How to make your own corn doll
• Materials
• 3 sticks 20cm. Long
• Dry maize husks
• Thread
• Water colors
• Using the thread tie the three sticks together.
• Wet the husks until they are soft.
• Wrap the sticks with the husks.
• Put some string around the neck, arms, and waist.
• Paint the dolls in your own special style.
