Setup ensures your Pocket PC talks to your
desktop and your server, and that your server
talks to Media-X

Pocket PC Connection to Computer
On your Desktop Computer
1. Click Active Sync Screen

Now you know your Pocket PC is connected to your
computer

This depends on the version of windows you are
running. Advanced may show up as as a dialogue
box.
If running XP you may see this screen. Please
refer to Page 8.

Pocket PC must be in cradle

7. Change Pocket PC to match the HTTP and Port
from your desktop screen or page 8
Could be numeric or text
8. Tap OK when complete-back to home screen
Make sure these boxes are checked

Pocket PC must be in cradle
4. If you get an ID screen Enter User Name and
Password Tap OK (School or office password.) If
domain is requested you must enter it
3. Enter www.mapquest.com and Tap the GO arrow at
the right of the screen.
5. Tap Exit (When Map Quest logs on to Pocket
PC)
Now you know your Pocket PC connects to the
Internet

Media-X Login
On your Desktop Computer
Enter the Username and Password provided by
Media-X. User name is the full work email
address. For example, moder_at_frankfort.ky.us.
The Password is 1234. Note This will remain
1234 until user decides to change it. Dont
change it until told to.

New filename as of 12/12/05 is eWalk-PPC-1.01.exe

9. Security warning will appear select Run (you
may have to click run more than once) Note If
Run doesnt appear go to Desktop and Click on the
eWalk-ppc-1.05R icon.
10. Click Open Next, Accept or Advance until
installation is complete
Security warning will appear (Pocket PC must be
connected)
If a screen comes up asking for name or
company-enter school name for company
11. Keep Clicking Install, Next, Finish and
possibly Install
12. Go back to mxWeb in the green taskbar

Creating the eWalk Shortcut on Pocket PC
On your Pocket PC
1. Remove Pocket PC from cradle
14. Tap Start Menu in Windows dropdown
2. Tap Start
15. Tap Programs
3. Tap Programs
16. Tap Edit in bottom left corner
4. Tap File Explorer
17. Tap Paste Shortcut or Paste
18. Tap Start Menu (with flag)
5. Tap dropdown arrow in top taskbar.
19. Tap Settings
6. Tap My Device
20. Tap Buttons
7. Tap My Documents
21. Tap last round button number for shortcut.
This may be button 5 (house).
8. Tap eWalk
10 Tap Copy
22. Tap dropdown
11. Tap eWalk in top taskbar
23. Find and tap shortcut to eWalk
24. Tap OK back to home screen
12. Tap My Device
13. Tap Windows
25. Press the last physical button on the bottom
of your PocketPC (house)
26. Return Pocket PC to Cradle
27. Tap Quit

You should be on mxWeb page on your Desktop

On Pocket PC
Reminder Pocket PC should remain in cradle
3.5 Bring eWalk back up by pressing the physical
home button.
Screen showing files are loading will appear (or
maybe not).
You are now on the Main Menu for eWalk. If not
push the shortcut button on the Pocket PC
4. Tap Upload/Download
5. Tap Setup
6. Uncheck HTTPS for secure data transfer
7. Enter the information from your Desktop ID
screen onto your Pocket PC
8. Check Proxy Server used
9. Tap Proxy Setup

Minimize the keyboard
15. Tap Return and then tap Return
16. Quit eWalk.

On Desktop
1. Select the Walkthrough template to be loaded
onto the Pocket PC
On Pocket PC
2.5. Press the home button again to bring up
eWalk.
3. Tap Upload/Download
4. Tap Download
This may take a minute or more look for 37
Bytes of Data...
Wait for DONE
5. Tap Return

Checking the Walkthrough on Pocket PC
Remove Pocket PC from Cradle
1. On eWalk Main Menu screen tap New Walkthrough
2. From template category and in dropdown Tap All
3. Tap highlighted All
4. Tap new dropdown
5. Tap Gates Walkthrough Revision 1
6. Tap a staff member
You should now see a screen with the staff
members name, date, time and some other
information.
7. Exit program by tapping Back Main Menu Quit

Troubleshooting

• Pocket PC wont sync 1. Make sure Pocket PC
  is on the
• Windows home screen
• 2. If password protected add
  password
• Pocket PC wont connect to Map Quest 1. Make
  sure address is typed correctly
• 2. Repeat setup on pages 2-6 and
  check settings on pages 7 9
• 3. Try www.google.com
• Cant log on to Media-X 1. Make sure address
  is typed correctly (https and capital K in
  Kentucky)
• 2. Check another internet site
• Cant Download files 1. Check settings pages
  18 19 (Your Desktop computer and Pocket
  PC ID screens must match)

Troubleshooting

• No Template when download is complete 1. Repeat
  pages 20 21 2. Refer to B-2 D-1 in
  Troubleshooting section 3. Make sure
  37 bytes loaded displays on the
  Pocket PC after sending Post Request
• If Pocket PC wont connect to website Check
  Active Sync
• Generate Files icon does not appear 1. Go to
  mxWeb 2. Click Profile 3. Change
  role to principal
