Title: Expertise Oriented Approaches

1
Expertise Oriented Approaches
  • The expert oriented approaches use experts in
panel format and depend on their judgment to
evaluate the program. This method is used by
    accreditation agencies and sports performances
    such as diving.
  • Read Chapter 8 in your textbook.

2
Adversary Oriented Approaches
  • These adversary oriented approaches either borrow
from the legal system or from the debate.
Evidence for and against the program is developed
and presented either to a jury or to a group of
    stakeholders.
  • Read Chapter 9 in your textbook.

3
Participant Oriented Approaches
  • The participant oriented approaches use various
levels of stakeholders to determine values,
    criteria, needs, data and information
requirements for the evaluation. Parlett and
Hamilton devised the illuminative model which
focuses on intense scrutiny of the program.
Stake developed the responsive model which is a
    pluralistic approach. Guba developed the
    naturalistic model which uses qualitative
methods. Read chapter 10 of your textbook.

Comparative Analysis
  • Read your Textbooks Chapter 11.
  • Find examples of two or more evaluations for each
of two of the six approaches. Use Figure 11.1 as
a basis for comparing the four evaluations. Do
you think that different approaches may produce
    different results?
  • In all six approaches there seems to be five
common areas of investigation. Look at
evaluations from each and see if you can discern
    the common inquiries
