Title: HARRISON HIGH SCHOOL
1HARRISON HIGH SCHOOL
- Moving Forward with
- Trimester Scheduling
2- To accomplish great things,
- we must not only act,
- but also dream
- not only plan,
- but also believe.
3The concept of Trimesters is not new In a
trimester schedule, students would have three
terms a year instead of two semesters.

- TRIMESTER SCHEDULE
- --1-- --2-- --3-- LUNCH/ACAD. SEM.
--4-- --5-- 76 Minutes each
period
6A student would take five classes during each
trimester. Each class would be 76 minutes long.
7To compare Trimesters to Semesters we should
also look at credits.
A class that meets for one semester currently
will meet for one trimester and be awarded 1/2
unit of credit.
Likewise, a class that currently meets for 2
semesters will meet for 2 trimesters and be
awarded 1 unit of credit.
A few classes will run the full year
(3 trimesters), and will be awarded
1 1/2 credits.
8CLASS CHOICES PER YEAR
- 06 - 07 12 BLOCKS OF CLASSES
- (6 blocks x 2 semesters)
-
07 - 08 15 BLOCKS OF CLASSES
(5 blocks x 3 semesters)
9STUDENT FAILURE
- 06 - 07 After a 1st Semester failure, repeat
usually takes place the next year.
- 07 - 08 After a 1st Trimester failure, repeat
might occur immediately in 2nd Trimester.
- Expect fewer failures and quick remediation
- when failures happen.

16EFFECTS ON STUDENTS FOR NEXT YEAR (07-08)
- All students will take 5 classes per term.
CTE/Dual enrolled students will have 2-3 classes
_at_ HHS per term. - Parents will receive a mid-term progress
report after 6 weeks. Parent/Teacher Conferences
have been moved to adjust to the new schedule. - Trimester grades are based 80 on classroom
work (homework, tests, quizzes, projects,
participation, etc.) and 20 on the trimester
exam. - Each class after the Class of 2007 will have
additional credits required for graduation. In
four years we will be at 27 credits required for
graduation. (Class of 2011 and beyond)
