consideration of a feeling of high regard It is
important for employees to embrace workplace
respect and courtesy in order to build a healthy
work environment

the workplace
- Rights and Responsibilities
- Everyone should have a clear understanding of
their role within the organization as it relates
to appropriate behavior - Equality
- Eliminate barriers between work groups in
the organization and embrace the uniqueness of
everyone by encouraging discussions of
differences and alternative points of view - Standards of success
- Establish a culture that defines appropriate
conduct and incorporates company values such as
respect and open communication into the work
environment - Perception
- Evaluate people on the quality of their work
and personal character, eliminate office politics
by not prejudging individuals or assuming
unsubstantiated facts, and be aware of unspoken
messages, mixed signals and body language - Effort
- Hold all employees from top to bottom
accountable for their own actions and behaviors
and for meeting the standards of success then
recognize and reward employees for their
achievements. Confront issues when they happen
by politely addressing any grievances or concerns

- Seek to first understand before being understood

to the person what you heard, to make sure you
have the right understanding

is important to try to avoid the pitfalls - A small group of people dominating
conversations, while others are quiet, reserved,
or aloof - Meetings involving heated debates with little
actual progress

- Create a norm that encourages ongoing
