Application Fee
  • An application processing fee of 55 in U.S.
    funds, payable to The California State
    University, is required for each new application
    filed.
  • The application fee for up to six campuses may be
    waived if you are a CA resident from a low-income
    family for whom the application fee would be an
    extreme and undue hardship.

EPT ELM Placement Exams
  • English Placement Test (EPT) and the Entry Level
    Mathematics Test (ELM) are required of all
    incoming students PRIOR to enrolling in classes
    therefore, you will need to take the tests before
    you attend a CSU unless you are exempt.
  • You may schedule and take the test(s) at any CSU
    campus. Just indicate on the test form the CSU
    campus(es) that should receive your scores.

  • ACT English Test ? 24 or higher
  • Language and Composition or Literature and
    Composition Tests (AP Tests) ? 3

ELM Exam Exemptions
  • Entry Level Mathematics Test (ELM)
  • SAT Reasoning Test, Math ? 550 or higher
  • ACT Math ? 23 or higher
  • SAT Subject Test, Math (Level 1 or 2) ? 550 or
    higher
  • Calc AB/BC or Stats Tests (AP Tests) ? 3 or
    higher
  • 11th grade CST scores/EAP ? exempt
  • Equivalent transferable CSU course work ? grade C
    or better

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
  • TOEFL is required of all students whose native
    language is not English and who have not attended
    schools at the high school level or above for at
    least 3 full years of full-time study where
    English is the principal language of instruction.
  • A minimum score of 500 on the paper exam, 61 on
    the internet version, or 173 on the
    computer-based TOEFL is required. Some CSU
    campuses or particular majors require higher
    score results than these minimum scores.
  • Students should check with the CSU campus in
    which they are interested for the required
    scores.

Educational Opportunity Program (EOP)
  • The EOP program is designed to improve access and
    retention of historically low-income and
    educationally disadvantaged students.
  • EOP provides admission, academic, and financial
    assistance to EOP-eligible undergraduate
    students.
  • Campuses tailor their programs to accommodate the
    needs of their student population.
  • Because acceptance to the EOP is limited,
    students should file their application for
    admission to the campus and complete EOP forms
    early in the filing period.
