12Impaction What Is It?
- Supplemental Criteria
- Last 30 Units minimum- GPA at least 2.5
- Include only classes of 3 Semester-Units or more
(or 4 qtr-unit courses) - Do not include repeated courses
- GPA in 5 Prerequisites- GPA at least 2.75
- Biol 65, Biol 66, Micro 20, Engl 1A, Psych 1
- Biol 65, Biol 66 and Micro 20 must be completed
within 5 years and passed with a grade of C or
better. (May only be repeated once to achieve a
passing grade) - TEAS Test (Test of Essential Academic
Skills)-minimum individual score of 75.

Prerequisite Course Substitution Form is
submitted for School of Nursing
approval.(www.sjsu.edu/nursing) - See the Nursing website under Forms,Allow 3-4
weeks for mailed response. FAX not accepted. - Send in substitution forms now, with official
course descriptions!

20Submitting Your Folder
- Can submit by Certified/Registered Mail, or
Deliver to Room 420 Health Building (Nursing
Office) - Do not submit until COMPLETE with all documents
and grades (Exception Official Transcripts may
be sent directly, but courses must be completed
and graded)
21When to Submit Your Folder to School of Nursing
- As early as possible after completion
- By April 1 for Fall Admission
- By October 1 for Spring Admission
- Accelerated Program starts in Summer 07, so
apply by February 1, 2007 for Summer Cohort.
22Acceptance
- Acceptance Letters are mailed within 5-6weeks of
Application Deadline- - No courses can be in progress
23If You Are Accepted
- Read the Nursing Students Handbook
- Read Your Acceptance Packet
- Submit a Health Statement (MD or NP Exam)
- Complete Your Health Requirements and Clinical
Documentation before Semester 4 - Student Background Checks and Drug Screening,
required prior to Semester 4 - Maintain current yearly CPR certification
- Health Insurance, Malpractice Insurance, and
Transportation to Clinical Sites - Orientation Day is Mandatory

- Only then can you register for any nursing

26Accelerated BS Program
- Starts in Summer, 2007 goes year-round 18 months
vs. 36 months - Same Prerequisites and Impaction Scoring
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Course fees are paid by a Hospital Sponsor, you
agree to work for the Hospital after graduation
(2-3 years) at regular rate of pay - Complete Your Upper GE in Spring 2007 prior to
starting the Program Summer 2007 - Prior Bachelors Degree not required
- 30 Students per year, by invitation letter
