2The Age of Exploration
- This is a time when explorers from Europe went to
the Americas - To the Europeans, they had discovered new
lands, unknown to them. - To the Americans already here, if Europeans were
not a threat when they arrived, they soon became
one by bringing war, slavery, and diseases the
natives had no protection against. - This was the beginning of a time of great change
in the Americas.

- This was also a time of great change for Europe
- Science and learning were improving, giving them
the knowledge and technology to go across the
Atlantic Ocean. - Their governments were becoming more organized
giving them the resources (money) and focus
(fewer wars) to be able to explore. - Plus they needed
- a new route to China because the old land route
was no longer usable.
