  mentoring, or early career guidance
• Demonstrated a commitment to promoting the
  profession of industrial hygiene, advancing the
  profession among students and early career
  professionals, and providing guidance and
  mentorship to students or early career
  professionals.

• Andrew Burgie, Instructor at New York University
  (150 students)
• K-12 outreach activities (Synergist article)
• Andrew has multiplied the opportunities for IHs
  to reach out to young people in the community
• Invested time with local K-12 students
• Partnered Local Section members with Manhattans
  High School for Environmental Studies
• Presentations at 9 classes
• Taught to prepare students for NY State Regents
  Exam in chemistry, working IH into the mix
• Participates in Building Works, teaching a two
  day course on environmental monitoring to
  at-risk high school students

New Member T-Shirt Design Program

• Started in 2007 when a drawing was submitted.
• Proceeds from T-shirt sales were to be
  distributed to 2008 AIHce student attendees
• This year, a call for designs was sent out in the
  Synergist and e-SSENTIALS and information about
  the contest was also posted on the AIHA website.
  
• There were a total of 5 submissions
• Submissions were evaluated and voted upon by the
  Student Local Section Council Officers.
