- The federal government has reauthorized it every
five years since its enactment - The most current reauthorization of ESEA is

- Title I, is the cornerstone of the No Child Left
Behind (NCLB) Act. - It is the largest federal education program that
outlines - Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP)

8State Funding for Title I
- There are two types of Title I programs
- Schoolwide
- A schoolwide program permits a school to use
funds from Title I, to upgrade the entire
educational program of the school in order to
raise academic achievement for all the students. - Targeted Assistance
- "targeted assistance" signifies that the services
are provided to a select group of children--those
identified as failing, or most at risk of
failing, to meet the State's challenging content.

- Schools may be designated as schoolwide when at
least 40 percent of the students are eligible for
Free and/or Reduced Meals (FARMS). - Schools participating in targeted-assistance
programs must have at least 35 percent of their
population eligible for Free and/or Reduced Meals
(FARMS).
