The Hidden Treasure
3
Let's look at the Passage.
Matthew 1344
44"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure
hidden in a field, which a man found and hid and
for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has
and buys that field
Let see first...
4
The Parable Explained
A man finds a treasure.
First he hides it!
Then he buys that field.
He's rejoicing knowing that there is a treasure
in that field
5
THE MEANING OF THE PARABLE...
The Church of Christ
The kingdom of heaven is worth infinitely more
than the cost of discipleship, and those who know
where the treasure lies joyfully abandon
everything else to secure it.
6
The Church of Christ
...the kingdom of heaven, the glad recognition
of Gods rule over heart and life, including
salvation for the present and for the future, for
soul and ultimately also for the body, the great
privilege of being thereby made a blessing to
others to the glory of God, all this, is a
treasure so inestimably precious that one who
obtains it is willing to surrender for it
whatever could interfere with having it.
7
Can I find this treasure even though I am not
looking for it?
Paul the Apostle is an example of this
1. Paul found this treasure even though he wasnt
looking for it!
He was on his way to Damascus to persecute the
Christians, Acts 91-2.
For he thought it was the right thing to do Acts
269-11.
8
But once he met the Lord, and learned the will of
God, he did not hesitate to carry it out even at
great cost to him Acts 2619.
His estimation of what he found
He himself says
9
1. Something worth giving up all, if necessary.
Philippians 34-6.
2. Writing of the gospel of the glory of
Christ, Paul refers to it as a treasure. 2

knowledge that are found in Christ. Colossians

Let's apply the Parable
Please dont forget that the man can be any of
us
Anyone that with an HONEST AND SINCERE heart is
looking for the truth.
15
Anyone who finds this treasure would do the
impossible to obtain it!
Paul says.
Philipians 38 Yet indeed I also count all things
loss for the excellence of the knowledge of
Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered
the loss of all things, and count them as
rubbish, that I may gain Christ
16
All you have to denounce is
Practices...
Traditions
Addictions...
Pleasures...
Worldliness
17
What is the worth of the Kingdom of heaven?
Let's Ask
Stephen

Paul
Even the Lord Jesus...
18
When we hear all these testimonies we might say
This treasure is REALLY WORTH IT!
Matthew 633...
33But seek first the kingdom of God and His
righteousness, and all these things shall be
added to you.
