Mission

• The VRO will raise the profile of the Schools
  research within the School, the University and
  wider afield.
• It will
• Strengthen the research profile of the School
• Support the Schools research through the
  establishment of a research infrastructure and
  network of researchers
• Provide a strategic view of research within the
  School.

• Encoure a research ethos
• Establish a single integrated research community
  with defined strategic themes
• Ensure alignment of R(D)SVS research strategy
  with developing research themes in EBRC
• Advise the RGSC on the establishment of IDRCs
  and IDGs in the School
• Facilitat collaboration within the school and the
  college and externally both with research
  institutions and industry
• Help to identify opportunities for research
  funding and new scientific developments
• Advise the HoS on new appointments
• Work with the Director of Research and Graduate
  Studies to ensure maximum ratings in future
  research assessment exercises.
