Prewriting Gathering Information
  • When writing a memoir it is important to choose a
    single important life event.
  • It might be an important life lesson
  • It might be an emotional loss
  • It might be a triumphant win in life!
  • What memories are important to you?

18
Prewriting Gathering Information
  • Now lets brainstorm some ideas about our
    important event
  • Example
  • My notes about The Proposal
  • First trip to Beaver Creek, Colorado
  • Our trip was during the ECHL Hockey Playoffs, so
we took our Everblades Jerseys to wear while
    ice-skating.
  • We went ice skating on the central rink right
    before dinner.
  • Matt asked a couple to take our picture while we
    wore our jerseys.
  • While having our picture taken, Matt dropped to
one knee and asked if I would marry him.
