8What is a Memoir?
- Its a description of an important experience in
the authors life.
9Whats in a Memoir?
- Narrator The narrator is the person writing the
memoir. - Story is told in first-person, using I
- Reflective Tone The narrator should use a
reflective, or thoughtful, tone so the reader
will know how they feel. - Create a reflective tone by asking questions
and/or drawing conclusions. - Voice The narrator should use his voice to
express their own style. - Use phrases that are common used by narrator.
- Sequence The sequence should follow time order.
- May include flashbacks, but be sure to transition
readers with you

suspense throughout. - Grammar/Mechanics Spelling, punctuation, and
capitalization are correct. Simple and perfect
tense are used correctly.

- Our trip was during the ECHL Hockey Playoffs, so
we took our Everblades Jerseys to wear while
ice-skating. - We went ice skating on the central rink right
before dinner. - Matt asked a couple to take our picture while we
wore our jerseys. - While having our picture taken, Matt dropped to
one knee and asked if I would marry him.
