Primary Focus?

• The team decided that the primary focus will be
  on nonfiction
• The team will begin with some fiction texts to
  pique interest activate background for
  dinosaurs
• Will sift through texts to identify quality
  nonfiction and select touchstone texts

Identify Goals projects

• Betsy Tracy thought carefully about the goals
  they had for their students throughout the unit.
• We brainstormed ideas for meaningful projects to
  demonstrate student understanding.
• What kind of work (reading/research/writing) will
  students do in this unit?

The team combined standards, essential questions,
assessments, projects, response questions on
one template.

• The team considered the strategies that students
  will need to meet the goals complete the
  culminating project
• They determined topics for lessons as a roadmap
  for class inquiry (logically sequenced)
• They decided to sequence instruction around the
  essential questions
