HISTORY
  • Even without written laws, the life of the fields
in Molise has always been governed by a solemn
and unchanging respect for farming traditions. In
this same spirit, the Indalco story began one
day in 1912. The Industria Alimentare Colavita
was born in the municipality of Sant'Elia a
Pianisi, near the city of Campobasso. The artisan
character of its origins allowed the firm to grow
and to gain the appreciation of the people of
Molise. Today Indalco is a member of the Italian
food industry and its products have expanded
beyond the Italian national frontier to reach
North and South America, Eastern and Western
    Europe, Australia, Africa and Asia.

4
  • In 1979 the company moved to Ripalimosani, into
a modern factory in the suburbs of Campobasso.
This move marked Indalco's passage from a
national to an international company. It was from
the new 33,000 square metre factory that the
first container of pasta was exported to
Colavita USA in New Jersey in 1979.

5
  • This was the beginning of an export business that
is still growing thanks to the quality of
    Colavitas products. And
  • since quality is a gift that does not pass
unobserved in the world, the magazine Bon
Appetit has devoted precious space in a special
American edition to the flavours of Molise and to
    Indalcos products.

6
  • To handle increasing output and exports, Indalco
has made huge investments in plant modernization
in recent years. The aim is to achieve the firm's
principal objective to mingle the ancient spirit
of tradition with the requirements of the market,
that is To offer an artisan product at an
industrial price. The most up to date machinery
has therefore been installed and all equipment
aligned to the highest quality standards.

love for his work later led Bartolomeo to open a
new coffee blending and roasting facility, in
collaboration with his sons Giuseppe and Felice.
