  • Use correct spelling for frequently used words,
    including homophones.
  • Homophones are often difficult for fourth
    graders. This unit allows assessment to be
    documented over several days, through a variety
    of methods.

Day One
  • Use Heartsofts Billiards and Homonyms Game to
    introduce the new words in context to the
    children. The program tells the percentage
    correct. If any are missed, the student practices
    them again.

Day Two
The students illustrate some of their homophone
pairs. These illustrations will be compiled to
create a Homophone Book that the children can
repeatedly refer to later in the year.

  • Students work in pairs to match the homophones
    with their correct definitions. This
