2We have a lot to be proud of
3Tobacco Control Programs Policies
- Reduce tobacco-related
- morbidity and mortality
- Reduce smoking-caused health costs
4But we are under ATTACK
- Our Programs are being decimated
- Annual funding for tobacco prevention has been
cut by 28, or 209 million, in past two years - Some of our longest standing and most successful
programs have been virtually eliminated - Some of our most promising new programs have been
drastically cut - CIA laws are being threatened around the country
5WE MUST FIGHT BACK
6HOW?
- We must constantly educate our communities about
our work and its results - We need to help the media, the public, and
policymakers understand our goals, activities,
and accomplishments - We have to build and demonstrate a broad and
ongoing base of support
7AND WE HAVE TO DO IT AT THE LOCAL LEVEL
