- Created 5 years ago by the Graphic Communications
Industry of Rhode Island (GCIRI), to showcase the
exceptional talents of local artists and to raise
money for scholarships. - 20,000 people attend the event, all day and
evening, usually the same night as a WaterFire. - The artists, both professional and amateur,
paint with chalk on sections of road and
sidewalk as they compete for cash prizes in a
juried competition.

- The Festival is a unique, fun, family event
- It showcases the talent of local artists and
performers - The Festival brings 20,000 tourists and their
business to the City of Providence. - The profits will support Rotary projects,

- One of the most prestigious institutions of
higher education in art lends its name and
involvement an incredible draw to artists! - Concessions
- The Rotary Club of Providence will sell salads,
hamburgers, hot dogs, soft drinks, beer and more
during the course of the festival. - Entertainment
- A full day of live and varied entertainment
music, singing, comedy and dance to draw families
to the event. - Grants
- Marketing designed to draw tourists from outside
Rhode Island makes this years festival eligible
for tourism grants. - A Change in Venue
- Festival moves to Bank of
America Skating Center

Contract with GCIRI
- The Rotary Club of Providence agrees to the
following - Assumes all risk associated with the event and
- Provides indemnity to the Rotary Charities
Foundation - Provides GCIRI with 50 of net profits this year
- Agrees to provide GCIRI with a portion of square
sales beyond 2005

Contract with GCIRI
- The GCIRI agrees to
- Turns over ownership of event to Rotary
- Train Rotary Club members to run the event.
- Provide printing of marketing materials _at_ cost
estimated at 3,000.00. - Continue to place its members on event
committees - GCIRI will continue to sell squares and share
- in some of that revenue in years to
come.

Asking of You?
- Sell Sponsorships of Squares! It is how we make
money. If each of our 141 Rotarians sold one
square - A square is the area in which the artist will
create his/her work. Costs of the squares vary by
size. -
- 150 - 4 ft x 4 ft square
- 225 - 4 ft x 8 ft square
- 450 - 8 ft x 8 ft square

- The name of the sponsoring agency will be
stenciled in 2-inch letters below each square
prior to the start of the festival. -
