Title: Miscellaneous Functions
1Miscellaneous Functions
- Plotting
- Selection Filters
- Measuring
- Mass properties
2Plotting
- Plot traditionally referred to large scale format
drawing C, D or E size - In NX, Plot function is used also used to print
scaled plots - Print is used for quick check prints fit to the
paper size
3Select Plot Function

9Selection Filters
- Often a part is complex enough that it is
difficult to select the item you want because
other items are too close. - Selection Filters simplify this task
- Selection Filters include
- Any
- Sketch
- Edge
- Face
- Solid Body
- Datums
- Etc.
- Located in the Selection Toolbar

11Measuring
- Used to measure distances and angles on models
12DISTANCE
Perpendicular Dist. (select reference plane first
to define direction of dimension, then two
objects to get distance between)
Arc Length (Select curves can be lines, arcs,
or a combination of lines and arcs will show
total length of lines and arcs)
Radius (Select arc to determine radius multiply
by 2 if you want diameter)
13ANGLES
By 3 points
Select the vertex as the first point

19- How would I find the volume of the water?
- Could do the following
- Suppress shell
- Find volume of entire solid
- Take difference between solid and cup to find
volume of water - What if you want to find volume of a partial cup
of water?

21- What is I want to know the mass or weight
- I must apply material to the part
22No materials have been setup yet
Matl Properties have not been specified
Choose one from Library
23Find desired material in library
24Material has now been SETUP
Notice how the properties are filled in for the
material
25Now lets APPLY the material to the part
Select material
Select Solid
Notice how the properties are filled in for the
material
Choose apply to apply the selected material to
the selected solid
26Now that a material has been specified you can
determine mass.
0.11 lbm of plastic is required to make the cup
