Title: Heart Treasure

1
Heart Treasure
2
Principle
  • If you give, you will receive. Your gift will
return to you in full measure, pressed down,
shaken together to make room for more, and
running over. Whatever measure you use in
givinglarge or smallit will be used to measure
what is given back to you. Luke 638 NLT

3
Rationale
  • Then he said to them, Watch out! Be on your
guard against all kinds of greed a mans life
does not consist in the abundance of his
    possessions. Luke 1215 NIV

4
Gods Outlook
  • 29Dont always think about what you will eat or
what you will drink, and dont keep worrying.
30All the people in the world are trying to get
these things, and your Father knows you need
them. 31But seek Gods kingdom, and all the other
things you need will be given to you. Luke
    1229-31 NCV

5
Surprises
  • Well be surprised at the amount of money we have
    for the Lords work.
  • At the deepening of our spiritual life.
  • How easy it will be to meet our regular
obligations as we manage the 90.
  • How easy it will be to give more than a tenth as
    we test the Lords promise.
  • Youll be surprised that you didnt start to
    tithe sooner.

Heart Treasure
  • 32So dont be afraid, little flock. For it
gives your Father great happiness to give you the
Kingdom. 33Sell what you have and give to those
in need. This will store up treasure for you in
heaven! And the purses of heaven have no holes in
them. Your treasure will be safeno thief can
steal it and no moth can destroy it. 34Wherever
your treasure is, there your heart and thoughts
will also be. Luke 1232-24 NLT

7
Warning
  • 11If you cannot be trusted with worldly riches,
then who will trust you with true riches? 12And
if you cannot be trusted with things that belong
to someone else, who will give you things of your
own?13No servant can serve two masters. The
servant will hate one master and love the other,
or will follow one master and refuse to follow
the other. You cannot serve both God and worldly
    riches.

Promise
  • 29Yes, Jesus replied, and I assure you,
everyone who has given up house or wife or
brothers or parents or children, for the sake of
the Kingdom of God, 30will be repaid many times
over in this life, as well as receiving eternal
life in the world to come. Luke 1829,30

9
Leftovers
  • 26Yes, the king replied, but to those who
use well what they are given, even more will be
given. But from those who are unfaithful, even
what little they have will be taken away. Luke
    1926 NLT

10
God hates leftovers!
  • Think of it! Animals that are stolen and
    mutilated, crippled and sickpresented as
offerings! Should I accept from you such
offerings as these? asks the LORD. 14Cursed is
the cheat who promises to give a fine ram from
his flock but then sacrifices a defective one to
the Lord. For I am a great king, says the LORD
    Almighty. Malachi 113b, 14

11
Sacrificial Giving
  • Just then he looked up and saw the rich people
dropping offerings in the collection plate. Then
he saw a poor widow put in two pennies. He said,
The plain truth is that this widow has given by
far the largest offering today. All these others
made offerings that theyll never miss she gave
extravagantly what she couldnt affordshe gave
her all! Luke 211-4 The Message

12
Proportional Giving
  • Now I will write about the collection of money
for Gods people. Do the same thing I told the
Galatian churches to do 2On the first day of
every week, each one of you should put aside
money as you have been blessed. Save it up so you
will not have to collect money after I come. 1
    Cor. 161,2
  • For if the willingness is there, the gift is
acceptable according to what one has, not
according to what he does not have. 2 Cor. 812
    NLT

13
  • A man there was, and they called him mad the
more he gave, the more he had! John Bunyan
