Deferred imitation Imitation of a model that is
not immediately present but rather occurred some
time in the past

Horse ride (plastic rectangular box with small
hole at top, knob attached to a rod running
through the length of the box, plastic
stick,plastic horse with hole through its
middle). The experimenter modeled putting the
stick into the hole in the box, placing the horse
on the stick,and pulling the knob (thereby
causing the horse to take a ride, moving from
side to side).Bunny (wooden bunny head with
ears attached by a hinge to the back of the head,
plastic eyes with magnetic backing, plastic
carrot). The experimenter modeled putting up the
bunnys ears, putting on the bunnys eyes, and
feeding the bunny the carrot (making yum yum
noises while holding the carrot at the location
of the mouth).
