guarantor for her husband if he applied for
credit. The Court of Appeal decided that this was
unlawful sex discrimination

of 1952 prevented men from training or practicing
as midwives, and the original Sex Discrimination
Act 1975 continued this. In 1977 2 midwifery

experiment and this was deemed a success. In 1983
the SDA was amended to allow them full access to
the profession.
