Conservation
  • With all the things we use our natural resources
for, isnt it a good idea to protect and save
    them for future use?
  • Use just what you need, dont waste natural
    resources.
  • Keep it clean, dont pollute or litter.

4
3 ways to Conserve
  • Reduce
  • Reuse
  • Recycle

5
Reduce use less
  • Use less water to wash. Turn it off when you
    arent using it.
  • Use less power energy. Turn it off when you
arent using it. (lights, TV, heat)
  • Get larger packages and break it up into smaller
    packages using reusable containers.

6
Creeds Reduces Paper Use
  • Check out the Creeds Web Pageit now has the
Creeds Indian Beacon, the student newspaper on
    it.
  • Now notification goes home to many students by
    way of myschoolmail_at_vbschools.com instead of
    paper copies.
  • We are saving lots of trees!

7
Maybe you can be in next years calendar of
student artwork expressing the need to reduce the
use of natural resources like water.
8
Reuse use it again
  • Reuse things more than once.
  • Use things for different purposes.
  • Pass things on to other people to use when you
    are done using them.

  • Here is how your efforts are making a difference
  • Since September 2008 we diverted 515 tons from
    the waste stream
  • This is the equivalent to saving
  • 10,251 trees
  • 147,670 gallons of oil
  • 2,412,000 kilowatts of energy (enough to power
    300 homes for one year)
  • 4,200,000 gallons of water
  • 1,809 cubic yards of landfill space
  • Thank you for contributing to the Big Green
    Recycling Team

Recycle make it new again
  • Though you can not recycle much on your own, you
are the first step in a process to conserve
natural resources by recycling things to make new
things out of old things without using more
    resources.

18
Recyclingstep 1
  • Put papers, cans, boxes, bottles, and containers
    in the recycling tub.

19
Recyclingstep 2
  • The big recycling tub gets dump into the
    outside recycling can.

20
Recyclingstep 3
  • The contents of the big recycling can are
picked up and delivered to the recycling center.

21
Recyclingstep 4
  • The recycling center sorts the recycled materials
and sends them to recycling plants for processing
usually by cleaning them, melting them down, and
    molding them into new products.

22
Inside the Metal Recycling Center
This man loads the aluminum cans onto the
conveyor belt which carries it to the top and
drops it into this machine to be turned into a 1
foot cube of crushed aluminum.
23
Big blocks of crushed aluminum are bundled for
transport to the recycling plant to be melted
down.
24
I wonder what it will be next a pie pan? a
radiator? or a new soda can?Your guess is as
good as mine.
